Announcement letter 2

Dear colleagues!

As announced earlier, the International Conference «The use of modern information technologies in botanical investigations» will be held on March 28–31, 2017, in Apatity (Murmansk Province, Russia) in Kola Science Center of Russian Academy of Science.

The Organizing Committee has registered more than 90 participants from Russia, Finland, Denmark and Austria. We appreciate your interest in the conference and will be happy to see you in Kola Science Centre!

Preliminary conference topics

1. Information Systems (IS) and databases.

2. The use of remote sensing methods in the vegetation mapping and study of biodiversity.

3. Modern information technologies in the data processing.

 

Final program of sessions and round tables will be established later, after receiving all application forms.

The official languages of the conference are Russian and English.

 

Presentations. Plenary presentations are expected no longer than 30 min, section presentations should be no longer than 20 min. PowerPoint presentations are advised for demonstration via PC. A computer and a projector will be available.

The poster should be easily read in Russian or English and high profile should be given for illustrations. At special poster session, the authors will be expected to explain briefly the topic of their poster

 

Abstracts. Abstracts must be submitted electronically no later than 15th February 2017. Notifications about acceptance for publication will be sent by e-mail by 20th February 2017.

Abstracts in MS Word format (.doc or .docx) or MS Word compatible files should be submitted by e-mail: bryo.kpabg@list.ru. Margins 2 cm at all sides. Times New Roman, size 13 pt, line spacing 1.0, paragraph indent 1 cm, aligned by width. Totally, the abstract should not exceed 5000 characters with spaces. Authors are recommended to avoid using abbreviations in the text, footnotes, tables and figures.. Please name the file by surname of presenter (i.e. Smith.doc).

During the Conference we plan an excursion to the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden as well as museums of Kirovsk and Apatity.

The registration fee is 1000 rubles RUS and includes the programs, abstract volume, coffee breaks).

The conference dinner will cost approximately 1000 rubles RUS (should be paid additionally).

Accommodation. Preliminary we suppose to accommodate foreign participants in the “Isovella” hotel (Apatity, http://izovela.com/ru/hotel). There are available double rooms for 1640 rubles RUS per room. The price doesn’t include meal. Hotel offers breakfast (150–250 rubles RUS), supper (230–400 rubles RUS) and dinner (200–300 rubles RUS) in the hotel café. All participants can pay the accommodation at the registration desk of the hotel and get vouchers.

Travel to Apatity is mostly by train (www.rzd.ru) from St.-Petersburg (it takes 24 hours) and Moscow (it takes 33 hours) or by airplane (2.5 hours to Murmansk airport and then 3.5 hours to Apatity by bus or car, or 2 hours to the “Khibiny” airport (Apatity-Kirovsk) (http://hibiny.aero/). Since the Conference will be held during the high season, please, book your tickets in advance.

Please inform us, if you need official documents from the organizing committee to get a Russian visa. An ordinary tourist visa can be easily provided by tourist agencies, and Kola Science Center RAS can provide official invitation to participate in the Conference.
