Small, dark brown to black clumps on surface of agar. Pseudofilaments with 5-6 cells in a row, lengthwise, cells also forming sarcinoid packs, 3.9-4.6 um. Sheath abscent. Cells irregular, result from multiple fission, occationally forming pseudodichotomously branches, up to 4.2 um long. Cells dirty brown-green to blue-green, peripherally colored (thylakoids?), center of cells lacking pigmentation, 1.1-1.9 um.
